    Estate Purchase of world traveler.
    A note attached to this item indicates this lion was carved by local craftspeople (Sherperds) and is a copy of the Lionsfrom Hattusas Capitol of Hittites which was an area in which  Lions were everywhere.
    That area was a part of Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Cyprus.
    Solid stone (marble?).  Beautiful patina.
