    Description

This is a beautiful handmade, abstract kiln fused stained glass kaleidoscope designed and made by us, Lawrence and Audrey Goldsmith.
To create the kaleidoscope's colorful fused glass top piece, we cut an unusual piece of a specialty, patterned, fusible glass. Then we slumped it in two stages. This means that we melted it in the kiln at approximately 1400 degrees
over a prepared form that we made.
It was then annealed (slowly cooled in the kiln) for many hours.
We then soldered the kiln fused top piece, to the black stained glass bottom. The kaleidoscope is signed and dated. Our kaleidoscopes are original and no two are exactly the same.
It is a little more than 7 inches long counting the disks. The sides are approximately 1 inch wide. We used non-lead solder for your safety and ours.
It has a solid brass axle and 2 kiln fused glass disks with many pieces of transparent stained glass pieces. The disks spin independently. It has three excellent quality front surface mirrors inside and clear glass ends to keep out dust.
We are a husband and wife team working together in glass and separately on individual art pieces for over 35 years and our work is found in galleries, museum shops and gift shops. We have made kaleidoscopes since the 1980's when our kaleidoscopes were selected by the governor of Ohio as gifts for all the U.S. governors at the National Governors' Conference. We are members of Ohio Designer Craftsmen. Over the years, our work has been purchased by individuals throughout the United States and many foreign countries, and has been featured in museum shops, galleries, charity auctions and used as corporate gifts.
